Yellowfin tuna inhabit oceanic waters, generally well offshore.
Is found the full length of the West Australian coastline
with a tendency to school up into the warmer northern waters
of the state. It is distinguished by yellow dorsal and anal
fins that become elongated with age. The medium red flesh
of the Yellowfin Tuna is popular in sashimi markets such as
Japan, as well as in the USA and Europe where it is a common
table fish.
Most Yellowfin caught in WA are in the range of 20 to 50
kg.
