The Broadbill Swordfish inhabits oceanic waters, generally
well offshore. It is found along the full length of the West
Australian coastline.
Swordfish is a popular table fish that is found all over
the world in temperate waters. The fish can grow very large
and are distinguishable by the long, flattened sword. They
have no teeth or scales.
Most Swordfish caught in WA is between 30 and 100kg, with
larger fish also being caught occasionally. The fish are gilled
and gutted at sea, head and sword removed also prior to chilling
on the vessel.
Broadbill Swordfish is an excellent source of Omega 3 oils.
