Albacore tuna inhabit oceanic waters, generally well offshore. It is found the full length of the West Australian coastline, primarily in the winter months. Can occur in schools. Albacore tuna are distinguished by very long pectoral fins, which are shorter in juveniles. The pale pink or almost white flesh of the Albacore Tuna is popular as a cheaper fish in sashimi markets such as Japan, especially when the fish have a good fat content as found in the winter months.
